What’s Involved?

  • Camping fees: Fully paid
  • Crate Stacking: This is a 2 hour Crate Stacking session, Indoors or Outdoors – Whichever you prefer. Crate Stacking is Castle Saunderson’s most popular activity. (Instructor led)
  • Orienteering: Specially designed Orienteering courses for Beavers, both fun and challenging. (Self led)
  • Backwoods Challenge: This is self-led backwoods activity, Sixers will be issued instruction packs for Bivvy Building, Fire lighting, Leave No Trace and will cook fish on an open fire. This activity will help Cubs achieve many parts of their Adventure Skills Backwoods Badge. All equipment required will be provided by the Centre. (Self led, Instructors can be provided upon request)
  • Pioneering Project: Sixers can choose from 12 different pioneering projects, build a table, build a bridge, build a tower etc… All equipment required will be provided by the centre. (Self led, Instructors can be provided upon request)
  • Messengers of Peace: Castle Saunderson is one of only five designated Messengers of Peace centres worldwide. The programme includes Peace Training, Service to Site and a Community Project. (Instructor led)
  • Chimney Climbing: This is a 2 Hours wall climbing session. Cubs will scale the exterior of Main Building, all the way up to the Top of the Chimney. (Instructor led)
  • Kayaking: A 90 minute kayaking session on the River Finn, Cubs will learn about water safety as well as Kayaking the Finn. This must be booked two weeks prior to visiting. Professional instructors deliver the session. (Instructor led)
  • Evening Programme: For the summer period, Castle Saunderson will provide its visitors with free evening programme 6 nights a week. Evening Programme will consist of Soccer tournaments, Hockey tournaments, Campfire nights and much much more!!! (Instructor led
